Cast members from the Broadway production of Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical performed at Borders Columbus Circle on Tuesday, July 19. The event was part of a book signing with Eric Grode, author of Hair: The Story of the Show that Defined a Generation.

Participating cast members included Matt DeAngelis, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Paris Remillard, Kacie Sheik, and Caren Lyn Tackett.

Hair, which is directed by Diane Paulus, features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and Rado, music by Galt MacDermot, and choreography by Karole Armitage. It is currently performing at the St. James Theatre.

With a score including musical numbers as “Let the Sun Shine In,” “Aquarius,” “Hair” and “Good Morning Starshine,” the musical follows a group of hopeful, free-spirited young people who advocate a lifestyle of pacifism and free-love in a society riddled with intolerance and brutality during the Vietnam War.
