Gregory Maguire’s Out of Oz, Concluding the Wicked Years Series, to Be Released in November

Gregory Maguire’s Out of Oz, the fourth and final volume of the Wicked Years series will be released by William Morrow on November 1.

In the new book, The Emerald City is mounting an invasion of Munchkinland, Glinda is held under house arrest, the Cowardly Lion is on the run from the law, and Elphaba’s granddaughter, Rain, comes of age to take up her broom in an Oz wracked by war.

Out of Oz will conclude the series which began with Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West in 1995, which has served as the basis of the hit musical Wicked. Other books in the series have included Son of a Witch and A Lion Among Men.

Maguire contributed to GRIMM, an evening of short plays inspired by the works of the Brothers Grimm and performed original work for NPR’s All Things Considered. Among his other books are Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, Lost, and Mirror, Mirror.
