63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Award Nominations Are Announced

Nominations for the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced. The ceremony, to be hosted by Jane Lynch, will air on FOX-TV on September 18.


Shows which received multiple nominations include Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Glee, The Good Wife, Mad Men, Mildred Pierce, Modern Family, Saturday Night Live, and 30 Rock.


The 64th Annual Tony Awards received a nomination for Outstanding Special Class Program, as well for Outstanding Writing and Directing.


Contenders for Outstanding Variety, Comedy, or Music Special include Carrie Fisher: Wishful Drinking, Bette Midler: The Showgirl Must Go On, The Kennedy Center Honors, and The Pee-wee Herman Show on Broadway.

Stage veterans who have been recognized for the acting work this year include Eileen Atkins, Alec Baldwin, Christine Baranski, Kathy Bates, Brian F. O’Byrne, Andre Braugher, Ty Burrell, Steve Buscemi, Josh Charles, Kristin Chenoweth, Jon Cryer, Alan Cumming, Joan Cusack, Matt Damon, Loretta Devine, Peter Dinklage, Mireille Enos, Edie Falco, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Laurence Fishburne, Johnny Galecki, Paul Giamatti, Michael C. Hall, Jon Hamm, Christina Hendricks, William Hurt, Jane Krakowski, Nathan Lane, Cloris Leachman, Melissa Leo, Laura Linney, Jane Lynch, Julianna Margulies, Margo Martindale, Robert Morse, Elisabeth Moss, Timothy Olyphant, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jim Parsons, Amy Poehler, Martha Plimpton, John Slattery, Maggie Smith, Julia Stiles, Sofia Vergara, Mare Winningham, and Alfre Woodard.
