Tate Donovan to Join Frances McDormand in David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People on Broadway

Stage and screen actor Tate Donovan will return to Broadway opposite the previously announced Frances McDormand in David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People, which will begin performances at Manhattan Theatre Club’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on February 8, in anticipation of an official opening on March 3. Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan will direct the production.

The play focuses on a woman in an impoverished Boston neighborhood who hopes an old fling (Donovan) might give her a fresh new start. Additional casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.

Donovan is best known for his performances on Damages and The O.C.. He made his Off-Broadway debut in the original 1990 MTC production of Richard Greenberg’s The American Plan. His other credits include Amy’s View on Broadway, Lobby Hero Off-Broadway, and Lindsay-Abaire’s Rabbit Hole at the Geffen Playhouse.

McDormand won an Oscar for her performance in Fargo. Her Broadway credits include her Tony Award-nominated turn in A Streetcar Named Desire, as well as The Country Girl, and Awake and Sing!. Among her many Off-Broadway appearances are The Sisters Rosensweig, To You, The Birdie!, The Swan, and most recently, North Atlantic.
