Sheryl Kaller to Direct D. Tucker Smith’s The Great Game on Broadway in 2011-2012

Producers Randall L. Wreghitt and Jana Robbins have announced plans to bring D. Tucker Smith’s The Great Game to Broadway during the 2011-2012 season. Sheryl Kaller will direct the production. The theater, creative team, and casting will be announced at a later date.

The play focuses on George Hayward and Safia Das, who find that their world in 1870 is rife with danger, espionage, and unexpected love. Their cultures collide as they each find themselves in the other’s territory: he in the snow-swept mountains of Central Asia, she in the cobbled jungle of London.

Smith’s other plays include Quake and Catalog, as well as such short plays The Knockout Suit, Overnight Delivery and Patriot Act,

Kaller received a Tony Award nomination for her direction of Next Fall. Her other credits include Adrift in Macao, Dangerous Beauty, Rain, Weird Romance, The New Americans, and The Talk.
