Randy Cohen, Seth Duerr, David Rakoff, Simon Schama, et al. Set for Punishing Blow Talkbacks

Guest speakers have been announced for the talkbacks that will follow four-time Emmy Award winner Randy Cohen’s The Punishing Blow: An Illustrated Lecture Delivered by Order of the Orange County Criminal Court, to be presented by the York Shakespeare Company at the Kirk Theatre, August 13-28. Seth Duerr will direct and star in the production.

The play focuses on Leslie, an anti-Semitic college professor, who must deliver a court-ordered public lecture. Cohen is the author of the “Ethicist” coiumn, which runs every Sunday in the New York Times Magazine

As previously announced, Cohen and Duerr will appear together for Q&A sessions following every Saturday and Sunday matinee.

In addition, they will be joined by guest speakers at the following certain performances. Among the guests for these talkbacks will be journalist David Margolick (Wednesday, August 18); NYCLU legal director Arthur Eisenberg (August 19); Daily Show writers Kevin Bleyer, Daniel Radosh, Tim Carvell (August 20); English professor and writer Dr. Sharon Harrow (August 22); screenwriter and filmmaker Shais Rison (August 24), author Binnie Klein (Wednesday, August 25); ESPN columnist Paul Lukas (August 26), author and journalist David Rakoff (August 27); and New Yorker writer and historian Simon Schama (August 28).
