Marc Wolf began the run of his solo show Another American: Asking and Telling at the DR2 Theatre, on July 12 with a benefit performance for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. After the show, he met with the charity’s executive director Scott P. Campbell.

The production features original direction by Joe Mantello, and was developed from over 150 interviews. In it, Wolf portrays a community of characters struggling with the government’s ban on gays and lesbians in the armed forces, including civil rights lawyers, federal judges, professors, and politicians.

Wolf won an Obie and was nominated for the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for his Off-Broadway performance of the show at The New Group in 2000. He has also performed the piece around the country, earning a Garland Award, Helen Hayes Award, Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award, and GLAAD Award for his work.

Throughout the run of the show, a portion of the proceeds from specific performances will be donated to additional charitable organizations including GHMC (July 19) and Servicemembers Legal Defense Networks (August 16).
