Meryl Streep, Phyllida Lloyd May Collaborate on Margaret Thatcher Bio-Movie The Iron Lady

Meryl Streep and Phyllida Lloyd may collaborate on The Iron Lady, a bio-movie about Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The actress and director previously worked together on the film version of the musical Mamma Mia!

The Iron Lady, with a screenplay by Abi Morgan, will explore all aspects of Thatcher’s career and the obstacles she faced.

Streep’s stage credits include Trelawny of the Wells, Secret Service, The Cherry Orchard, Happy End, The Seagull, and Mother Courage and Her Children. She is a two-time Oscar winner for Kramer Vs. Kramer and Sophie’s Choice, In addition, she won the Emmy Award for HBO’s film version of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America.

Lloyd is responsible not only for the movie version of Mamma Mia!, but also its original stage incarnation. Her other stage credits include Mary Stuart, The Duchess of Malfi, Boston Marriage, and The Threepenny Opera.
