Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore will host this annual dog and cat adopt-a-thon.

As previously announced, the event will also feature appearances by Brooke Adams, Bill Berloni, Kevin Chamberlin,Katie Finneran, Montego Glover, Tony Goldwyn, Ruthie Henshall, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Beth Leavel, Judy McLane, Michael Mastro, Jan Maxwell, Tony Shalhoub, and Richard Thomas.

The event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, will once again help many of New York City’s shelter animals find permanent homes by informing New Yorkers about the plight of the thousands of “homeless” dogs and cats in the metropolitan area. The celebrity presentations of pets from citywide animal shelters will take place between 5:30pm and 6:30pm.

In addition, the Empire State Building will be lit purple, pink and yellow on July 10 to raise awareness of the Broadway Barks adopt-a-thon.

Following the event, Peters will hold a book signing of her new children’s book Stella is a Star! in the lobby of the Schoenfeld Theatre, at approximately 7:15pm. The new book, published by Blue Apple Books, is about Stella, a pup who would rather be a graceful pig ballerina than what she really is: a dog no one seems to like. The book includes a CD with an original song written and performed by Peters.
