Cheryl Howard’s The Sensational Josephine Baker to Bow in September

Emerging Artists Theatre will produce Cheryl Howard’s one-woman show The Sensational Josephine Baker, to run September 7-October 3 at TADA Theatre. Ian Streicher will direct the production.

The play chronicles the life of the Jazz Age performer personality, in both story and song. In the piece, Howard plays not only Baker, but also her domineering mother, fellow chorus girl Lydia Jones; and Ada “Bricktop” Smith, owner of the infamous nightclub “Bricktop’s in Montmarte…”

Howard’s stage credits include Dance a Little Closer, Zora, Golden Motors, Into the Woods, Gypsy, The Colored Museum, Lucky in the Rain Tin Pan Alley Rag and Thoroughly Modern Millie.

The creative team will include Nicole Wee (costume design), G. Ben Swope (lighting design), Tim McMath (scenic design), Peter Saxe (original music), Aaron Blank (sound design), and David Bengali (projection design).
