Best Plays of 2009-2010 to Include Two from Sarah Ruhl and Works by Annie Baker, Donald Margulies, Theresa Rebeck, and More

Sarah Ruhl’s In the Next Room or the vibrator play and Passion Play have both been selected for inclusion in the annual Best Plays Theater Yearbook, the Best Plays of 2009-2010. These two works are part of the 10 new works included in the 91st edition in the series, which will be edited by Jeffrey Eric Jenkins and published by Limelight Editions.

Also included will be Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson by Alex Timbers and Michael Friedman, The Brother/Sister Plays by Tarell Alvin McCraney, Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker, Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Diety by Kristoffer Diaz, Red by John Logan, Time Stands Still by Donald Margulies, and The Understudy by Theresa Rebeck.

In addition to these ten plays, the volume will honor Horton Foote’s The Orphans’ Home Cycle with a special citation. Each of the pieces included in Best Plays of 2009-2010 will be celebrated in an essay. Writers contributing to the forthcoming edition are TheaterMania’s Dan Bacalzo, along with David Barbour, David Cote, Jill Dolan, Adam Feldman, John Istel, Chris Jones, David Rooney, Michael Sommers, Celia Wren, and Charles Wright.
