Ruined Extends at Manhattan Theatre Club Through September 6

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced a final extension for its critically acclaimed production of Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined, which will now run through September 6. Kate Whoriskey directs.

The play focuses on Mama Nadi, a shrewd businesswoman living in a small mining town in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The cast features Portia as Mama Nadi, with Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Cherise Boothe, Chris Chalk, William Jackson Harper, Chiké Johnson, Russell G. Jones, Simon Shabantu Kashama, Kevin Mambo, Tom Mardirosian, Ron McBee, and Condola Rashad.

The creative team includes Derek McLane (sets), Paul Tazewell (costumes), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting), Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound), and Dominic Kanza (original music).

The play has also won Best Play honors from the New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel Awards, and Obies.
