Nonesuch Records to Release John Adams' Doctor Atomic Symphony on CD

By Andy Propst • Jul 15, 2009 • New York City
Following the New York premiere of John Adams' Doctor Atomic at the Metropolitan Opera, Nonesuch Records is releasing the composer's Doctor Atomic Symphony a purely instrumental work, drawn from music in the opera, on CD on July 21.

The disc also includes Adams' 2001 piece, Guide to Strange Places, and it marks the premiere recording of both works. David Robertson conducts the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra on the recording, his first CD with the ensemble.
