Michael Graves will star as Mark Twain in the world premiere of Adam Klasfeld’s The Report of My Death, to be presented on the Lilac Steamship, located Pier 40 near Houston on the Hudson, July 22-August 15. Klasfeld will direct.

Featuring rare, previous censored and posthumously published Twain letters, stories, notebooks and historical artifacts, this one-man docudrama follows Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain) from his bankruptcy through his worldwide lecture tour, personal tragedies, unlikely recovery, and principled opposition to the Philippine-American War.

Graves’ credits include Macbeth (Public Theatre); Timon of Athens (Shakespeare Theatre); and Othello (Mark Taper Forum). Klasfeld’s other plays include Good Fences Make Good Neighbors, The Prostitute of Reverie Valley, and Europa’s Child.

In related news, Ron Crawford will present all-ages performances of his one-man show Travels with Mark Twain in repertory with The Report of My Death on the deck of the Lilac Steamship.
