Lucy Thurber’s Monstrosity, to be presented by 13P at the Connelly Theater, will run July 9-19. Lear deBessonet will direct the production, which features a cast of more than 30 performers.

The play is a dark, epic tale of singing teenage fascists, magic, war, and love — a disturbing retelling of the hero’s tale with a girl as the hero and an unheroic ending. Thurber’s other plays include Where We’re Born, Ashville, Scarcity, Killers and Other Family, Stay, and Bottom of the World.

The cast will include Carlo Alban, Reyna De Courcy, Frank De Julio, J.D. Goldblatt, Andy Grotelueschen, Ben Hollandsworth, D.J. Mendel, , Robert Saietta, Samantha Soule, Kristina Valada-Viars, and Michael Warner. The creative team will include Peter Ksander (set), Emily Rebholz (costumes), Justin Townsend (lighting), M.L. Dogg (sound), and Tracy Bersley (movement).
