Lee Blessing’s When We Go Upon the Sea Has World Premiere at Philadelphia’s InterAct

Lee Blessing’s When We Go Upon the Sea will get its world premiere at Philadelphia’s InterAct Theatre Company during the 2009-2010 season.

Sea, which unfolds in a high-end hotel room at The Hague and imagines former President George W. Bush on the eve of his trial for international war crimes, will run from April 9-May 9 of next year.

Blessing’s play is just one of three world premieres in the InterAct’s upcoming season. Also debuting at the theater will be Kristoffer Diaz’s The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, a play set in the world of professional wrestling which will run October 23-November 22. The third premiere is City of Numbers, written and performed by Sean Christopher Lewis, a solo show that tells the story of a broad range of Philadelphians that will run January 22-February 21.

The InterAct season will conclude with the regional premiere of Frank Higgins’ Black Pearl Sings!, a play with music that follows the journey of two women trying to gain acceptance from society during the Depression. Black Pearl will run May 28-June 27.
