Jeff Blumenkrantz Commissioned for Red Rose Girls; Musical Sets Sights on Broadway

Jeff Blumenkrantz, who was Tony Award-nominated for his work on Urban Cowboy and whose songs have been recorded by artists such as Sutton Foster, Audra McDonald, and Victoria Clark, has been commission to write the score for The Red Rose Girls, a new musical aiming for Broadway’s 2011-12 season.

This show will have a book by journalist and non-fiction writer Alice A. Carter. It focuses on a group of strong-willed women artists at the beginning of the 20th century and their sometimes unconventional efforts to overcome the restrictions placed on them by society.
