Dennis Parlato will return to the role of El Gallo in the Off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks, currently at the Snapple Theater Center, July 13-August 2. He temporarily replaces Lewis Cleale, who normally plays the role, while Cleale appears in Camelot at The Muny.

Written by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones, the musical is based on Les Romanesques by Edmond Rostand, and tells the story of a young boy and girl who fall madly in love at the hands of their meddling fathers, but soon grow restless and stray from one another. The company also includes Tom Flagg, Gene Jones, Michael Nostrand, Evy Ortiz, Steve Routman, Jonathan Schwartz, Douglas Ullman, Jr., John Thomas Waite, and Scott Willis.

Parlato’s Broadway credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Graduate, Salome, The Sound of Music, Chess, and A Chorus Line. He recently appeared in The Vertical Hour and Paint Your Wagon at The Pioneer Theatre in Salt Lake City.
