Glynn Turman will play Mr. Parker in the True Colors Theatre Company’s production of Lonne Elder III’s Ceremonies in Dark Old Men, to run July 8-28 at Atlanta’s Theatrical Outfit, the Balzer Theater at Herren’s. The production will be directed by Kenny Leon.

First produced by the Negro Ensemble Company in 1969, the show concerns one family’s dreams and frustrations. The cast will also feature Eugene Lee (Mr. Jenkins), Brandon Dirden (Theo), Jason Dirden (Bobby), Karan Kendrick (Adele), E. Roger Mitchell (Blue), and Carra Patterson (Young Girl).

Turman created the role of Travis Younger in the original Broadway production of A Raisin in the Sun. He currently stars on the HBO series The Wire; his other television credits include the CW series All of Us and NBC’s Different Strokes. He has received the NAACP’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Theatre, as well as that organization’s coveted Image Award.

Leon, the company’s artistic director, directed the 2004 Broadway revival of A Raisin the Sun and the Broadway productions of August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean and Radio Golf.
