Full Cast, Creative Team Set for Barrington Stage’s Black Comedy

Full cast and creative team have been announced for the Barrington Stage Company’s production of Peter Shaffer’s farce Black Comedy, to run July 19-August 4. The production, which will open officially on July 22, will be directed by Lou Jacob.

The show will star Brian Avers (Brindslay Miller), Nell Mooney (Carol Melkett), Beth Dixon (Miss Furnvial), Gerry Bamman (Colonel Melkett), Mark H. Dold (Harold Gorringe), Gordon Stanley (Schuppanizgh), and Ginifer King (Clea). The creative team will feature Karl Egesti (Sets), Ilona Somogyi (costumes), Scott Pinkney (lighting), and Daniel A. Little (sound).

The company has also announced the offerings for this year’s Musical Theatre Lab, to be presented at the Berkshire Athenaeum. The series will begin with a workshop production of Funked Up Fairy Tales (July 31-August 11), written by Kirsten Childs, directed by Kevin Del Aguila, and starring Christy McIntosh, Rashidra Scott, Alysha Umphress, Edwina Findlay, Heath Calvert, and Demond Green. The show will present a twisted update on the fairy tales, “The Pig Prince,” “Tamelin,” and “Rumplestilskin.”

Next up will be a workshop production of Nathan Tysen and Chris Miller’s The Mysteries of Harris Burdick (August 21-September 1), based on the children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg, directed by Joe Calarco. The final offering will be Songs by Ridiculously Talented Composers and Lyricists You Probably Don’t Know But Should (August 31-September 1), a revue of new songs narrated by William Finn and directed by Dana I. Harrell.
