Ana Gasteyer and Kathy Voytko will star as Fosca and Clara, respectively, in the Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Passion, to run October 2-November 11. The show will also feature Kevin Gudahl as Colonel Ricci; additional casting will be announced at a later date.

The production will be directed by Gary Griffin, with sets by Eugene Lee and costumes by Paul Tazewell. Griffin is currently represented on Broadway and in Chicago by The Color Purple.

First produced on Broadway in 1994, the show tells the story of Fosca, an ailing and ugly woman whose obsession with Giorgio, an Italian soldier, makes him reconsider his relationship with Clara, his beautiful, married girlfriend. The show won four Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Gasteyer has starred on Broadway in Wicked and The Threepenny Opera, and is best known for her work on Saturday Night Live. Voytko’s many stage credits include the title roles in The Pirate Queen and Evita.
