Tony Award winner Richard Easton and Neal Huff will join previously announced stars Hal Linden and Anna Chlumsky in the Bay Street Theater’s production of Crispin Whitell’s Darwin in Malibu, August 15-September 3. The production will be directed by Daniel Gerroll.

The play is set in the present day. Charles Darwin is relaxing on a deck chair overlooking the Pacific when suddenly he’s joined by two unlikely contemporaries. Soon, the debate over evolution, begun over a century ago, continues anew.

Easton won the Tony Award for The Invention of Love and will be seen this fall in The Coast of Utopia at Lincoln Center. Huff’s many stage credits include Take Me Out and The Little Dog Laughed. Linden won the Tony Award for The Rothschilds and starred on the hit sitcom Barney Miller. Chlumsky is currently appearing in The Butcherhouse Chronicles at the Summer Play Festival and is best known for the fim My Girl.

Up next at Bay Street, Mercedes Ruehl, Rene Pereyra and Liza Colón-Zayas will star in Diane Shaffer’s Viva La Vida!, July 18-August 6. The play, to be directed by Susana Tubert, looks at the last months of the legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
