Jay Goede and Kathryn Meisle to Star in Guthrie’s The Real Thing

Jay Goede and Kathryn Meisle will star in the Guthrie Theatre’s upcoming production of Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing (August 5-September 24), directed by Joe Dowling.

The cast also includes Jonas Goslow (Billy), Lee Mark Nelson (Max), Mike Rasmussen (Brodie), Elizabeth Stahlmann (Debbie), and Sally Wingert (Charlotte). The creative team is headed by John Arnone (sets), Helen Q. Huang (costumes), Christopher Akerlind (lighting), Scott W. Edwards (sound), and Marcela Lorca (movement).

Goede, who will play Henry, has starred on Broadway in A Year with Frog and Toad, Sex and Longing, The Play’s the Thing, and Angels in America. Meisle, who will play Annie, received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of Tartuffe; among her other Broadway credits are A Touch of the Poet, The Constant Wife, and Racing Demon. She has appeared in seven previous Guthrie productions, including The Three Sisters and Twelfth Night.

The Real Thing was first seen on Broadway in 1984; that production ran for more than 560 performances and won five Tony Awards, including Best Play. A 2000 Broadway revival ran for more than 135 performances and won three Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Play.
