Chalfant, Cryer, Ford, et al. To Be Part of Theatreworks/USA Season

Obie-winning actress Kathleen Chalfant will play Miss Havisham in Bathsheba Doran’s world premiere adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations as part of Theatreworks/USA’s 2006-2007 season at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. The show, to be directed by Will Pomerantz, will play November 8-December 3, with an official opening slated for November 16. No additional casting has been announced. Chalfant is best known for her work in such plays as Wit and Angels in America.

The Theatreworks season continues with the New York premiere of Henry and Mudge, December 13-January 21. This new musical based on Cynthia Rylant’s picture books about a boy and his dog will be directed by Peter Flynn and will open officially on December 18. The show features book and lyrics by Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk, and choreography by Devanand Janki. Casting will be announced at a later date.

The season concludes with Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford’s world premiere musical adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s children’s classic Anne of Green Gables, March 21-May 6. The show, to be directed by Tyler Marchant, will officially open on March 29. Casting will be announced at a later daye. Cryer and Ford are best known for the musical I’m Getting My Act Together...
