Liz Callaway, Michael Cerveris, David Yazbek, and David Zippel will be featured in this year’s edition of the Kaufman Center’s annual “Broadway Close Up” series at Merkin Concert Hall (129 West 67th Street).

The three-part series will kick off on September 25 with a concert devoted to the work of Zippel, lyricist of such shows as City of Angels, The Woman in White, and Princesses. On October 30, Cerveris, star of the current Broadway production of Sweeney Todd, will host a concert highlighting the work of Yazbek, composer-lyricist of The Full Monty and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. On November 27, Callaway, who appeared on Broadway in such shows as Cats and Baby, will host Bound for Broadway VII, a showcase of up-and-coming musicals. All concerts will begin at 8pm.

In related news, the Kaufman Center is initiating “Broadway Playhouse,” a three-part series for families, to be hosted by Sean Hartley. Each program in the series will focus on a particular songwriter or team and will include sing-alongs, interactive games, audience participation, and a mini-musical. The series will begin with Rodgers & Hammerstein on January 7, followed by Charles Strouse on February 4 and Irving Berlin on March 11. All programs will begin at 11am.
