Boone, Harnick, Marcovicci, Naughton, Ziemba, et al. Set for 92nd Street Y’s "Lyrics & Lyricists" Series

Debby Boone, Ann Hampton Callaway, Sheldon Harnick, Andrea Marcovicci, James Naughton, John Pizzarelli, Steve Ross, and Karen Ziemba are among the artists set to participate in the 2007 season of the 92nd Street Y’s popular “Lyrics & Lyricists” series.

The season will open January 6-8 with a The Last Girl Singer: Rosemary Clooney… And Her Way With Words, a tribute to Clooney created by author Deborah Grace Winer. The show will be directed by Mark Waldrop and will feature musical direction by Clooney’s longtime collaborator, John Oddo. Callaway, Naughton, Pizzarelli, and Ziemba will guest star, as will Boone, who was Clooney’s daughter-in-law. (Boone will not appear on January 6.)

Harnick, the lyricist of such shows as Fiddler on the Roof and She Loves Me, will re-team with conductor Rob Fisher for Harnick: Collector’s Items (Other People’s Lyrics), Part 2, February 10-12. The show will include songs with lyrics by Ira Gershwin, Lorenz Hart, E.Y. Harburg, et al.

Robert Kimball will serve as artistic director for Say It With Music: The Songs of Irving Berlin (March 17-19), to be hosted by Charles Osgood. Marcovicci will serve as artistic director of Thanks for the Memories: The Lyrics of Leo Robin (May 5-7), with special guest vocalists Gregory Harrison and Jennifer Sheehan. The series will conclude with Noël Coward and His Ladies, for which Ross will be artistic director, host, pianist, and one of the vocalists (June 2-4).
