News Flash: Huey Lewis to Join Broadway Cast of Chicago

Pop singer Huey Lewis will make his Broadway debut as Billy Flynn in Chicago, beginning November 1.

His group Huey Lewis and The News has sold more than 20 million albums. Their hit singles include “The Heart of Rock and Roll,” “Stuck With You,” “I Want a New Drug,” and “If This Is It”; their song “The Power of Love,” from the film Back to the Future, was nominated for an Academy Award. Lewis’s acting credits include roles in the films Short Cuts, Sphere, Shadow of a Doubt, and Duets, as well as the TV series Just Shoot Me and One Tree Hill.

In other Chicago casting news, Carol Woods will return to the role of Mama Morton in the show on July 26. As previously reported, Brooke Shields will take over as Roxie Hart on September 9. The current cast is headed by Charlotte D’Amboise as Roxie, Luba Mason as Velma, and Christopher McDonald as Billy.
