Brooke Shields will join the company of the long-running hit musical Chicago as Roxie Hart on September 9 for a limited engagement. The actress is currently playing the same role in the London production of the musical.

Shields has previously appeared on Broadway as Rizzo in Grease, Sally Bowles in the revival of Cabaret, and Ruth Sherwood in Wonderful Town, in which she replaced Donna Murphy to great critical acclaim.

The 40-year-old Shields’ film work includes The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love, and she was the star of the hit TV sitcom Suddenly Susan. Shields has recently been in the news because of actor Tom Cruise’s criticism of her treatment of her post-partum depression after the birth of her daughter Rowan.

The Broadway revival of Chicago opened on November 14, 1996, and won six Tony Awards. The show currently stars Charlotte D’Amboise as Roxie, Luba Mason as Velma, Christopher McDonald as Billy, P.J. Benjamin as Amos, and Mary Testa as Mama Morton.
