Andrea Marcovicci, Ted Sperling, Donald Smith, Rob Fisher, and Robert Kimball will be the guest artistic directors for the 92nd Street Y’s 2005-2006 Lyrics & Lyricists season.

Marcovicci, one of cabaret’s most beloved performers, will present Kurt Weill in America. The program, to run November 12-14, will focus on Weill’s collaboration with lyricists such as Alan Jay Lerner, Ira Gershwin, and Ogden Nash on such shows as One Touch of Venus, Lady in the Dark and Knickerbocker Holiday. Her cast will feature Tony Award nominee Michael McElroy, along with cabaret favorites Anna Bergman, Klea Blackhurst, Barbara Brussell, Mark Coffin, Jeff Harnar, and Maude Maggart.

Sperling, a Tony Award winner this year for his work on The Light in the Piazza, will offer up Heart and Soul: Frank Loesser’s Hollywood, January 29-31. The series will continue with The Words Come First, Smith’s tribute to the late great Mabel Mercer, February 25-27. It will be performed by Valerie Lemon, Craig Rubano, KT Sullivan, and Lumiri Tubo. (Smith is the longtime executive director of Mabel Mercer Foundation.)

Fisher, the former musical director of the City Center Encores series, will take the helm April 8-10 for Sheldon Harnick: Collector’s Items, teaming up with the Tony-winning composer of Fiorello and Fiddler on the Roof to explore his work. The series concludes May 6-8 with Kimball’s Hooray for Hollywood: Johnny Mercer at the Movies, to be hosted by CBS-TV newscaster Charles Osgood.

Subscriptions to the series are now on sale; single tickets will go on sale on August 8.
