Scribes Will Converge for Third Festival of ‘Wrights at 92nd Street Y

New York City
Beginning August 1 at the Makor/Steinhardt Center, located at 35 West 67th Street (between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West), the Third Festival of ‘Wrights will feature readings of 25 short plays and musicals by renowned writers as well as up-and-comers on the first four Sunday evenings of the month. Each program will begin at 7:30pm and has an estimated running time of approximately 75 minutes. The festival is being co-produced by the 92nd Street Y and Makor (Hebrew for “source”), an organization whose mission statement avows a commitment to “Jewish pluralism” and “cultural innovation.”


Each performance will feature a number of short theater pieces that share a common theme. Among the participants in the festival are Warren Leight (author of Side Man), Mark O’Donnell (co-librettist of Hairspray), and Craig Lucas (Prelude to a Kiss, Reckless, Small Tragedy, etc.) A complete schedule follows.
