Dan Lauria will perform in a one-night only reading of Richard Vetere’s new play Johnny on the Pony at The Triad Theater on Tuesday, July 20 at 5pm. Most famous for his role on TV’s The Wonder Years, Lauria recently co-starred in the Off-Broadway show Ears on a Beatle.

In Johnny on the Pony, he will play the deranged patriarch of a Queens family who insists on fathering a baby by his son’s bride. The reading is directed by Charles Messina, director of Cirque Jacqueline and Mercury: The Afterlife and Times of a Rock God. Messina and Vetere are the creative team behind Be My Love, a musical about the life of the great tenor Mario Lanza that is reportedly scheduled to be produced on Broadway in the spring of 2005.

The cast of the Johnny on the Pony reading also includes Gina Ferranti, Jerry Della Salla, and Michael Tenaglia. General admission to the reading is free. The Triad Theater is located at 158 West 72nd Street, between Broadway and Columbus Avenue.
