The weather cooperated beautifully with the sixth annual Broadway Barks! event in Shubert Alley on Saturday, July 10. In addition to Broadway stars offering pets for adoption, the event featured an auction of autographed memorabilia; proceeds from the auction and other donations received during the day will go to benefit the participating shelters and organizations. Among the luminaries on hand was Wicked‘s Kristin Chenoweth, seen here with a four-legged friend.
On hand for the event was Paige Davis, currently playing Roxie Hart in the Broadway company of Chicago and known to the masses as the host of TV’s Trading Spaces. Davis is pictured here with her dog Sophie, who was NOT up for adoption!
Broadway Barks! was co-hosted by noted animal lovers Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters.
Among the many other Broadway performers proffering pooches on Saturday: Neil Patrick Harris (Assassins)…
…Elizabeth Berkley (Sly Fox)…
…Jordan Gelber (Avenue Q)…
…Stephanie J. Block and Isabel Keating (The Boy From Oz)…
…and David Burtka, who played Tulsa in the recent Broadway revival of Gypsy that starred Bernadette Peters.
Cats were also available for adoption on Saturday — and who better to represent them than Eartha Kitt, the ultimate Catwoman in the Batman TV series of the 1960s.
