Boy George
Boy George
The Broadway production of Taboo -- the London import with music and lyrics by 1980s pop star George O'Dowd ("Boy George") and a book by Charles Busch, to be directed by Christopher Renshaw -- has announced an open casting call for the role of "Marilyn," to be held on Thursday, July 17.

The role is described as "a masculine drug addict and drag queen with excellent comic chops and [a] strong pop/rock singing voice." Auditionees should be "physically beautiful" males of any ethnicity in their mid-20s, but the casting announcement emphasizes that no one should dress in drag for the audition.

Those interested in the role should prepare 16 bars of a pop/rock song (not a musical theater song) displaying their full vocal range and should bring along sheet music plus a photo and résumé. Auditions will be held 10am-5pm on Thursday, July 17 at the Ripley/Grier Studios in Manhattan (520 Eighth Avenue at 36th Street, 16th floor).
