Stoppard’s Indian Ink to Receive New York Premiere

The Off-Off-Broadway theater company AlterEgo Productions will present the New York premiere of Top Stoppard’s Indian Ink at Walkerspace, located at 46 Walker Street. Opening night is scheduled for August 15.

Set both in 1930s India and 1980s England, Indian Ink
concerns the collision between the worlds of artists from those two countries against the background of the emergence of the Indian subcontinent from the grip of the British empire. The play had its world premiere in London in 1995 and its North American premiere in San Francisco in 1999.

The cast of the AlterEgo production includes Lethia Nall (the Public Theater’s As You Like It), Sendhil Ramamurthy (Manhattan Theatre Club’s East Is East), Deep Katdare (The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife on Broadway), and Debargo Sanyal (Slag Heap), along with Helen-Jean Arthur, Brian Coffey, Rebecca Challis, Kevin Chap, G. R. Johnson, Vikram Somaya, and Prashant Vijay. The show is directed by Ashok Sinha (Barriers).
