New Ohio Theatre and XO Female Productions will present Anna Fishbeyn's solo play My Stubborn Tongue beginning August 6 at the New Ohio Theatre. Directed by Scott Klavan, the production will run through August 24.

My Stubborn Tongue, which stars Fishbeyn (Sex in Mommyville), tells the story of a Russian Jewish immigrant girl who quickly learns that the only way to avoid being defined by her origins is to strengthen her grasp of the English language. On her journey she learns the wild antic of the letter "u," the spit-firing enunciations of "th," and the unforeseen hazard of not knowing idioms. It's the story of being an American, from the Russian point of view.

The play was previously performed at the Emerging Artists Theater One Woman Standing Festival, and it has also been chosen for the United Solo Festival 2014.
