Primary Stages has announced the casts and creative teams for the first two productions of its 30th-anniversary season: Theresa Rebeck's Poor Behavior and Billy Porter's While I Yet Live.
As previously announced, the season will kick off with Smash creator Theresa Rebeck's new comedy Poor Behavior (July 29-September 7), a look at two couples spending a not-so-idyllic weekend in the country. Poor Behavior will feature direction by Evan Cabnet (The Model Apartment) and a cast that includes Heidi Armbruster (Disgraced), Brian Avers (The Explorers Club), Jeff Biehl (Machinal), and Katie Kressler (Nikolai and the Others). The creative team will include scenic design by Lauren Helpern, costume design by Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Jason Lyons, and sound design by Jill B.C. Du Boff.
The season's second production, While I Yet Live (September 23-October 31) by the Tony-winning star of Kinky Boots, Billy Porter, will be directed by Tony Award nominee Sheryl Kaller (Mothers and Sons). This new work about a young man's coming of age in Pittsburgh features Elain Graham (The Picture Box), Sheria Irving (Ethel Sings), Emmy Award winner S. Epatha Merkerson (Come Back, Little Sheba), Kevyn Morrow (The Scarlet Pimpernel), Sharon Washington (The Scottsboro Boys), Tony winner Lillias White (The Life), and Larry Powell (Broke-ology). While I Yet Live features scenic design by Adam Koch, costume design by ESosa, lighting design by Kevin Adams, and sound design by Leon Rothernberg.
