Lapham's Quarterly held its annual Decades Ball on June 2 at Gotham Hall. This year's event, celebrating the 1870s, featured performances by stage veterans Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Real Thing), who read excerpts from Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, as well as Brian d'Arcy James (Giant) and Leslie Odom Jr. (Smash), who read from an interview with Mark Twain. The evening honored historian Simon Schama, who was presented with the Janus Prize by the Folio Society.
