Broadway's Once Casts Its New "Girl"

The Tony Award-winning Best Musical continues at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

The Tony- and Grammy Award-winning musical Once will welcome Jessie Fisher to the role of "Girl" beginning Tuesday, June 17. Joanna Christie will play her final performance on Sunday, June 15.

Jessie Fisher has worked in Chicago with Steppenwolf Theatre and Chicago Shakespeare Theater, among others. Fisher makes her Broadway debut in the lead role after having served as standby since October 2013.

Once is based on the 2007 Academy Award-winning film of the same name and plays Broadway's Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. The musical began at off-Broadway's New York Theatre Workshop and later transferred to Broadway, winning eight 2012 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Once features a book by Enda Walsh, music and lyrics of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, and direction by John Tiffany.

The cast of Once also features Paul Alexander Nolan as "Guy," as well as Adam Wesley Brown, Laurel Griggs, David Patrick Kelly, Katrina Lenk, Brandon McGibbon, Anne L. Nathan, Madeleine Pace, Andy Taylor, Ryan Vona, Erikka Walsh, Paul Whitty, and J. Michael Zygo.
