Performers Mary Lou Barber (Cats national tour), Edward Pleasant (New York City Opera), and Ben Rauch (upcoming Jersey Boys film) will present dramatic readings of excerpts from The Very Reverend James Parks Morton's forthcoming memoir at the 12th Annual James Parks Morton Interfaith Awards gala on June 5 at the New York Hilton Midtown.
The event, which will be hosted by writer Serge Schmemann, will honor former Vice President Al Gore, Director of the Center on Civil Justice Peter L. Zimroth, humanitarian Gaetana Enders, and posthumously recognize Sri Swami Satchidananda.
The James Parks Morton Interfaith Award is named for The Interfaith Center of New York's founder, who served as Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine for 25 years. Founded in 1997, ICNY is a secular educational non-profit organization that seeks to make New York City and the world safe for religious differences by increasing respect and mutual understanding.
