Long-Running Broadway Musicals Phantom, Mamma Mia!, and More Will Join 2013 Nominated Shows on Tony Awards Telecast

The evening will feature performances from the musicals A Christmas Story, Bring It On, Cinderella, and Matilda, among many others.

This year’s Tony Awards telecast will spread the Broadway love around from nominated shows to long-running hits. Held Sunday, June 9 at Radio City Music Hall, and broadcast live on CBS beginning at 8pm, the show will feature appearances from nine productions eligible in the Best Musical/Best Revival of a Musical category, as well as cast members from a host of classic Broadway shows that are still running.

Long-running favorites Chicago, Jersey Boys, Newsies, Once, Mamma Mia!, Rock of Ages, Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, The Lion King, and The Phantom of the Opera will be featured prominently in the telecast, along with performances from the 2013 nominated musicals A Christmas Story, Annie, Bring It On: The Musical, Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella , Kinky Boots , Matilda, Motown the Musical, and Pippin.

As previously reported, the evening will also feature appearances from a range of Hollywood celebrities and Broadway stars, from 2013 Lucky Guy nominee Tom Hanks and Undisputed Truth star Mike Tyson to previous winners Jane Krakowski, Laura Benanti, and Audra McDonald.

The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
