How Do I Watch the 2013 Tony Awards?
The simplest way to watch the 2013 Tony Awards, if you have a television, is live on CBS. The network recently announced that it will continue its long-standing partnership with the awards through at least 2018.
In addition to the alone-on-your-couch Tony-watching options, there will also be many social-viewing opportunities for New York-based theater lovers. Of course, there’s the ceremony itself at Radio City Music Hall, but unless you were one of the lucky few selected at today’s student rush lottery you probably won’t be going that route. So below you’ll find a sampling of some of the other Tony-viewing events you might want to check out.
Times Square
As usual, there will be a free outdoor simulcast of the ceremony in Times Square. This year, the simulcast event will be hosted by comedian and current Chicago star, Christine Pedi. There will also be special performances by Patti Murin, the cast of Rock of Ages, and the teen troupe Applause!
The Laurie Beechman Theatre
The Laurie Beechman Theatre will begin its annual Tony party at 7pm. The free evening (reservations are suggested, and there is a $15 food and drink minimum) will include viewing of a live red-carpet webcast as well as the ceremony itself.
54 Below
To enjoy the Tonys in an intimate nightclub environment, check out the 54 Below viewing party. This event also has no cover charge, but there is a $30 food and drink minimum. The ceremony will be viewed on the venue’s large-screen televisions.
