Ethan Hawke in William Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Laurie Metcalf in Bruce Norris’ new play Domesticated are among the selections on tap for Lincoln Center Theater’s 2013-2014 season at the Vivian Beaumont Theater and Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.

The new season will begin with Norris’ Domesticated, featuring 2013 Tony Award nominee Metcalf (The Other Place) and directed by Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro (August: Osage County). Running at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, the play about politics and gender will begin previews on October 10 in advance of a November 4 opening. Todd Rosenthal will design sets, with Jennifer von Mayrhauser on costumes, James Ingalls on lighting, and John Gromada on sound.

As rumored, Hawke will take on the title role in Jack O’Brien’s revival of Macbeth, beginning October 24 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in advance of a November 21 opening. The supernatural and bloody tragedy will have sets by Scott Pask, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Japhy Weideman, and original music and sound design by Mark Bennett.

The spring will see James Lapine’s new stage adaptation of Moss Hart’s seminal autobiography, Act One, at the Beaumont beginning March 20, with an opening set for April 17. Lapine directs the production, which has scenic design by Beowolf Boritt, costumes by Jane Greenwood, lighting by Ken Billington, original music by Jeanine Tesori, and sound by Daniel Moses Schrier.

Anthony Giardina’s new drama, The City of Conversation, will round out the season, playing at the Newhouse beginning April 10 in advance of a May 5 opening. Doug Hughes directs the work, which follows a behind-the-scenes political player over a period of thirty years, from the Carter administration to the Obama era.

Additionally, Lincoln Center Theater’s LCT3 program will present a three-play season in the Claire Tow Theater. Casting and other information will be announced in the future.
