Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana, the Tony-nominated stars of Broadway’s Cinderella, are set to host the 5th Annual National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) on July 1 at Broadway’s Minskoff Theater. The event will feature the student winners from 31 regional competitions vying for the Jimmy Awards, named after Broadway theater owner and producer James M. Nederlander.

Each year, the NHSMTA competition features more than 50,000 musical theater-loving high school students participating in competitive events sponsored by professional theater organizations in cities across America. Founded in 2009, NHSMTA aims to create connections between the talented students and the professional theater world. Over the past five years, the program has been a catalyst for more than $750,000 in college and conservatory scholarships.

Cinderella features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II as well as a new book by Douglas Carter Beane. Mark Brokaw directs the production, which includes music adaptation and arrangements by David Chase. Andy Einhorn is music director and conductor.
