Lincoln Center Theater’s LCT3 world premiere production of Daniel Pearle’s A Kid Like Jake celebrated its opening night at the Claire Tow Theater on Monday, June 17. Evan Cabnet directs the new drama, which began previews on June 2 and is currently scheduled to run through July 14.

Theatre World Award winner Carla Gugino (The Road to Mecca) and Peter Grosz (The Colbert Report) lead the company of the work, which follows a husband and wife as they struggle to come to terms with their four-year-old son’s passion for Cinderella and penchant for dress-up amidst applying him to private schools. Caroline Aaron (Relatively Speaking) and Michelle Beck (Much Ado About Nothing) complete the cast. Featured on the creative team are Andromache Chalfant (scenic design), Jessica Wegener Shay (costume design), Japhy Weideman (lighting design), and Jill BC Du Boff (sound design).

A Kid Like Jake is the recipient of the 2013 Laurents/Hatcher Foundation Award, which provided a prize of $50,000 to Pearle and an additional $100,000 toward the production costs for the LCT3 staging.
