Two-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane may return to Broadway in Lincoln Center Theater’s production of Douglas Carter Beane’s The Nance, a new play about early 20th-century burlesque, according to The New York Times. Jack O’Brien is set to direct the show, which is aiming to open at a Broadway house in spring 2013.

Lane most recently appeared on stage in the Goodman Theatre’s production of Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh, which has been eyed for a Broadway production. However, there are no immediate plans for a transfer.

Beane has received Tony Award nominations for The Little Dog Laughed, as well as the books for Lysistrata Jones, Sister Act, and Xanadu. O’Brien won Tony Awards for his direction of The Coast of Utopia, Henry IV, and Hairspray.

Lane is a two-time Tony Award winner for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and The Producers. His many other Broadway credits include The Addams Family, The Frogs, Butley, and Present Laughter.
