Manhattan Theatre Club will present the Broadway premiere of Sharr White's critically acclaimed drama The Other Place, to star Emmy Award winner Laurie Metcalf and be directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, beginning on Tuesday December 11 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The show will open officially on Thursday, January 10. Additional cast and creative team will be announced shortly.

The play, which was first presented by MCC Theater, features Metcalf as Juliana Smithton, a successful neurologist whose life seems to be coming unhinged. Her husband has filed for divorce, her daughter has eloped with a much older man and her own health is in jeopardy. But nothing is as it seems.

MTC has also announced that it will present the world premiere of Nell Benjamin's The Explorers Club at New York City Center-Stage I beginning on Tuesday, May 14, with an official opening on Tuesday, June 4. Director, casting, and creative team for the production will be announced shortly.

The play is set in London in 1879 as the Explorers Club debates whether to accept their first female candidate.
