Cynthia Hopkins, Joe Roland, Jill Stoddard Set for Canal Park Playhouse’s MOMENTum

Canal Park Playhouse is set to present MOMENTum: a night of music, theatre and miscellany as part of its free The Back Room Reading Series, June 13 at 7pm. The event is hosted and curated by Michelle Memran.

The evening will include writer/musician Cynthia Hopkins, performing songs from her climate crises project This Clement World; an excerpt from Victoria Libertore’s Dreams of Incest in Bali; the music of Karen Codd; Joe Roland playing the character of a striking factory worker from his play On the Line; humorist Jill Stoddard pondering merchandising and the Occupy Wall Street movement; and Visual artist Reeva Wortel presenting monologues and paintings from SPILL, her collaboration with Leigh Fondakowski, based on interviews with the people of the south coast of Louisiana in the wake of the BP oil spill.

Curated by playwrights Joe Roland and Emily DeVoti, The Back Room Reading Series was created with the aim of expanding the downtown theater community.
