Andrew Garland, Corinne Winters, Lauren Worsham and More Set for NYFOS 2012-2013 Season

The New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) has announced plans for its upcoming 25th anniversary season.

The season will feature four programs at Merkin Concert Hall. Laurence Maslon will direct Mr. Gershwin Goes to Washington (October 20 at 8 pm), featuring lyrics by Ira Gershwin and music by George Gershwin and Burton Lane. The production will feature Anne-Carolyn Bird and Lauren Worsham, with Steven Blier and Joseph Thalken on the piano.

Up next, Corinne Winters, Sasha Cooke, Andrew Garland, and pianist Steven Blier will perform in
Women (December 4 at 8pm), featuring work by Mark Adamo, Harold Meltzer, Carla Kihlstedt, Mohammed Fairouz, Thea Musgrave, John Musto, and others.


Mezzo-soprano Marie Lenormand will be accompanied by Bill Schimmel on accordion, Greg Utzig on banjo and guitar, and Steven Blier on piano for Jacques Brel and Charles Trenet Revisited (February 19 at 8 pm).


Finally, young pianists from Caramoor’s 2012 Terrance W. Schwab Vocal Rising Stars Program will be joiined by Steven Blier, and Michael Barrett for Songs of the Midnight Sun (March 12 at 8pm).

Among the additional events set for the seson are a collaboration with The Juilliard School Vocal Department, entitled A Night at the Operetta (January 16 at 8 pm), the NYFOS spring gala (April 8 at 7pm), and the group’s 25th anniversary soiree (May 13 at 7:30pm).
