Play Dead to End Off-Broadway Run July 24

Play Dead, an Off-Broadway comic thriller co-written and directed by Teller and co-written & performed by Todd Robbins, will end its run at the Players Theatre on July 24.

The piece, which opened on October 21, 2010, explores themes of death, darkness, and deception through both storytelling and stage illusions. In addition to Robbins, the cast includes Geri Berman, Charlotte Pines, Drea Lorraine, April Andres, Don Meehan and Brianna Hurley.

The creative team includes scenic designer David Korins, lighting designer Thom Weaver, sound designer Leon Rothberg, and composer Gary Stockdale.

Teller is best known for his work as part of Penn & Teller, which has performed their work on Off-Broadway, on national tours and currently enjoy a full-time home at The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Their Showtime series Penn & Teller: Bullshit! has been nominated for 11 Emmy awards and is the recipient of the 2005 Writer’s Guild Award for Outstanding Comedy/Variety Series.

Robbins’ other plays include Dark Deceptions and The Charlatan’s Séance. In addition, he is the creator of Carnival Knowledge.
