The Atlantic Theater Company celebrated the opening of Through a Glass Darkly, Jenny Worton’s stage adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s film, with a post-performance party at Chinatown Brasserie on Monday, June 6.
Directed by David Leveaux, the play stars Academy Award nominee Carey Mulligan, Jason Butler Harner, Ben Rosenfeld and Chris Sarandon.
Among the opening night attendees were Tony Award winner Joanna Gleason, who is married to Sarandon; actress Mary McCann; Atlantic Theater Company artistic director Neil Pepe; and Atlantic Theater Company managing director Jeffory Lawson.
Through a Glass Darkly tells the story of Karin (Mulligan), the central figure in the lives of her family, not least because her own tenuous grip on reality keeps everyone in constant motion around her. On an annual vacation to a beautiful remote island, tensions flare as her husband, father and brother struggle over the best way to help her, and Karin decides that she must take command of her own destiny.
